What It Does
Noisy Neighbor turns your iPhone into a noise documentation tool. When a neighbor’s noise becomes a problem, the app measures real-time sound levels and vibration, logs timestamped incidents with notes, and looks up your local quiet-hours ordinance — so you have a credible, organized record ready to share with a landlord, property manager, or local authority. All your data stays on your device and no account is required.
Features
Live Sound Measurement Real-time dB(A) estimation from your phone’s microphone with average and peak readings. A color-coded level meter and reference labels (library, conversation, vacuum, loud) give instant context to what you’re hearing.
Vibration & Bass Detection Uses the accelerometer to measure low-frequency vibration and bass rumble — the kind of disturbance that doesn’t always register as loud but keeps you awake anyway.
Incident Log Each recording is saved with its timestamp, duration, average and peak sound levels, vibration readings, and your notes. Browse, edit, and delete incidents from the case detail view.
Noise Ordinance Lookup Enter any U.S. city to look up local quiet-hours rules and ordinance details, powered by AI. Save the result directly to your case so it appears in exported reports.
PDF Reports & Complaint Letters Export a formatted PDF report or a formal complaint letter with one tap. Include your contact information in Settings to have documents automatically signed with your name, address, and phone number.
Case Management Organize incidents by neighbor or property. Each case tracks total incidents, your highest recorded peak, and any saved ordinance information.
Full Privacy Audio is processed in real time and never recorded, stored, or transmitted. Case data is stored locally on your device.

Noisy Neighbor does not collect, store, or share your personal data. All case information, incident records, and notes are stored locally on your device and never transmitted to any server or third party.
Microphone: The microphone is used exclusively for real-time sound level measurement. No audio is recorded as a file or transmitted anywhere. Only the computed dB value is saved as a number in the incident log.
Ordinance Lookup: When you search for a noise ordinance, your city or ZIP code query is sent to a server-side proxy operated by the developer, which forwards it to an AI service (OpenRouter/DeepSeek) to generate ordinance information. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
Purchases: Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. Noisy Neighbor does not process or store any payment information.
There are no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts required.

What iOS version is required? iOS 26.0 or later. iPhone only.
How do I restore my Pro purchase after reinstalling? On the paywall screen, tap Restore Purchase. This re-verifies your purchase with Apple and unlocks Pro features.
Can I use Pro on multiple devices? Yes. Sign in with the same Apple ID and tap Restore Purchase on any device.
Does the app work offline? Yes, for everything except noise ordinance lookup, which requires an internet connection to reach the AI service. Measurement, logging, and PDF export all work offline.
Does ordinance lookup work outside the U.S.? No. The ordinance lookup feature is designed for U.S. cities and ZIP codes only. All other features work anywhere.
Are the dB readings accurate? Sound level readings are uncalibrated estimates from the phone’s built-in microphone. They are useful for documenting relative severity and timing but are not certified acoustic measurements and should not be used as legal evidence of specific dB levels.
Is my data backed up? Data is stored locally on your device. Use iCloud device backup to preserve it when switching phones.
